     The publication presents a summary and evaluation of the first year of competition "Capital of Biodiversity 2010".

     The publication includes an assessment of issues and compare the results of the participating cities in Slovakia. Hereby presents the results of competitions in other countries involved in the project (France, Spain, Hungary and Germany). The publication also provides the best practices from Slovakia and other participating countries.

 

     The publication was prepared within the project "Support for nature conservation and biodiversity in urban areas: European Capital of Biodiversity price" with financial support from the European Commission within the project LIFE + and the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic.

Monografia kultúrno-historickej a spoločenskej topografie mikroregiónu Zdroje Bielych Karpát

     Monograph prepared by REC Slovakia, in cooperation with the Institute of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences and the whole work was inspired by the father of idea Marian Minarovič as creator of methodological approach.

     The monograph is divided into two separate parts. The first part presents a methodological approach and the second part is the verification of the model area (case study). The publication will serve both inhabitants of model territory, but on the basis of its declarative value significantly serve the scientific community and professionals in the environmental, social, culture, land use and spatial planning.

 

     The publication was compiled in the "Carpathian Project", partially supported by the INTERREG III B Cadses and was cofinanced by the European Union.

Kultúrno-historická a sociálna topografia mikroregiónu Zdroje Bielych Karpát (prípadová štúdia)

     The publication processes the cultural-historical and social topography of white Carpathian region based on developed methodology in 14 villages:  Bohunice, Bolešov, Borčice, Červený Kameň, Dulov, Ilava, Kameničany, Krivoklát, Mikušovce, Pruské, Sedmerovec, Slavnica, Tuchyňa a Vršatské Podhradie. 

     Contains topography and analysis of the area of natural, social, economic and cultural-historical aspect. The final section contains the document assessing the overall development assumptions territory, territorial development strategy in terms of the criteria and limits for sustainable development and to formulate recommendations and proposals for further development of the territory.

 

     The publication was compiled in the "Carpathian Project", partially supported by the INTERREG III B Cadses and was cofinanced by the European Union.

    Several transport routes of international importance run through the territory of the Slovak Green Belt. In the study we analyze existing transport connections in the area, positive examples from Slovakia and from abroad (Austria and Czech Republic) as well as recommendations and proposals to promote sustainable transport in the Slovak Green Belt.

 

     The publication was produced within the project "From Iron Curtain to Green Belt", which realized REC Slovakia in 2006-2008, with partial support from the European Union within the INTERREG III B Cadses.

Od Železnej opony k Zelenému pásu - Hranice rozdeľujú, príroda spája

     Within the program of European Commission`s INTERREG IIIB CADSES  financed from structural funds, involved REC Slovakia in the project "Green Belt", which focuses on sustainable protectio of the longest system of ecosystems in Europe - as one of the key components of Europe's natural heritage.

     In Slovakia, the so-called space. "Iron Curtain", has managed to protect unique natural values. The Morava river floodplain forms together with the adjacent Dyje river floodplain one of the most well-preserved river floodplains in Central Europe and this is demonstrated by its designation as Ramsar sites - wetlands of international importance. The following territory along the Danube, so called "Bratislavské luhy" are as well as the Morava designed into the system of protected areas of European importance of Natura 2000. This fragile area "Green Belt" is threatened by several factors.

     Publication indicates the theoretical basis of the consequences of climate change in cities, zooms in the possibility of mitigating the negative effects of the changes and inform professionals and the public with a theoretical basis for calculating the ecological footprint. Our intention was also to introduce an innovative ecological footprint calculation, taking into account the ecological stability of the city.

     The study deals with the conditions and possibilities for development of rural tourism in Záhorie. In addition to natural and historical dimensions there are people who create the conditions for developing rural tourism.     This publication is one of the outputs of the project LIFE "Sustainable urban development and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on quality of life and environmental conditions in cities, in its particular sub-tasks "Analysis and evaluation of progress in sustainable development of Slovak cities".

     The main objective of the publication is to bring the results of this task, which would be in addition to the methodological benefits also contribute to the creation of networks of cities towards sustainable development, as well as to spread the word about this issue in Slovakia.

     English version entitled Sustainable Urban Development in the Slovak Republic was published in 2006.

Rusovský park

     This brochure is part of the project "Development of partnerships in the field of environment and tourism Rusovce-Bruck", aimed to develop cross-border cooperation, as well as conservation and restoration of the park and the development of local democracy. The order for international cooperation is also evidenced by the summary in Slovak, English and German.

    The brochure is about the historical park in Rusovce, its history, values, but also about its present and the people for whom this park means something. Includes drawings and texts of elementary school children Rusovce. In addition, you can also find some comments of Rusovce citizens, which was collected in the civic participation - involving local people in the study of the park.

Zelený balíček (Green Pack)

REC for Central and Eastern Europe created a "Green Package" with the support of Toyota Grant program to promote environmental activities with an assistance of wide range of environmentalists and other experts. Green package includes a CD-ROM, a guide for teachers, a videotape with environmental videos and eco-game - Dilemmas.

    CD-ROM presents information on 22 environmental issues. The information is presented in the texts, images, photos, the maps, interactive tables and illustrations, tests and music videos. You'll also find  click on the useful website.

     Teacher's guide contains lesson plans and worksheets for pupils, which are clear and engaging. It is divided into five parts - the components of the environment, environmental hazards and impacts of human activities, global challenges, values.

     The package was created for use in primary schools, but it can be also used for other levels of education.

Verejnosť a ochrana drevín – Legislatívne podmienky a možnosti občianskej participácie pri ochrane drevín

     This brochure was created as part of the project "Public and green environment", which was realized with financial support from the Ekopolis Environmental Grant Program. The brochure discusses about the possibilities of trees preservation, indicating the importance of quality care for trees and underlines the importance of planting trees within replacement plantings. The entire brochure is in the form of questions and answers. At the end of the annex there are excerpts appropriate laws and some practical examples, we have gained in the implementation of the project.

Spoločné európske indikátory udržateľného rozvoja miest – pilotný projekt v Slovenskej republike

     The publication was prepared under the "Pilot projects involving Slovak municipalities into the European activities sustainable urban development", funded by the Foundation for Civil Society Development in the framework of the PHARE ACCESS, as well as an enormous effort representatives of Slovak towns, collected and evaluated a large number of underlying data used to create brochures. 

     Cities on the threshold of the 21st century are a source of major disagreements. Although in Slovakia is the development of urbanization in comparison with developed European countries slower, now in the majority of our population lives in cities.

This booklet was created as part of the project "Public participation in the urban environment", which is implemented with financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the European Commission. Caring for plants is a long-term activity, which in addition to knowledge requires a certain degree of affection and interest in plants. A booklet specifically focuses on tree  vegetation and changes resulting from the law of the Nature Conservation and Landscape no. 543/2002. We believe that it will contribute to the improvement of maintenance and care of trees in towns and villages in Slovakia.
